Competitive Program (Club)

pic1103

TARPON FC provides a quality program. This program is for the serious player seeking a higher level of play and training. Our philosophy is to develop the player’s individual and team skills, in a positive and constructive atmosphere. We feel that this encourages a love of the game translating into a solid work ethic that maximizes player development and performance.
Teams are selected through an annual “tryout” process. Tryouts are held in early June. Professional training and instruction are provided to all competitive teams.

CLUB PROGRAM:

TARPON CLUB is dedicated to providing a quality soccer environment. One that will allow players and coaches the opportunity in representing T.S.Y.S.A. and "the beautiful game" of soccer with pride!!!

* Tryouts

Tryouts are held in June, each year following the Florida State Cup finals (These dates vary yearly, go to the tryouts section for specifics). During the tryout period coaches will evaluate both new and returning players. Player selections are made and players are notified. The coaches will then meet with the team, and explain his or her philosophy, team rules, coaching style, and expectations of players and parents. At this time the parents may also ask the coach any questions they might have. Policies on attending tournaments, how much playing time a player gets, attendance at practices, etc..., are just some topics that should be addressed.

* Registration Fees

The registration fees for competitive players cover most of the expense of uniforms, insurance, referee fees, usage fees, equipment, and professional trainer fees. Fees are due at the time the player is registered. This is typically after the June tryouts and team selections have been completed. Fees are nonrefundable. Since fees may vary by team, contact the competitive team coordinator or director for details.

* Season

The competitive season varies according to age group. Regular league games for U9 through U14 teams run from November through February.

Regular league games for the U15 (high school age) and older are from August through October. This season is early and abbreviated in order to avoid conflicts with high school soccer season (Nov-Feb). However, all age groups are free to practice and play tournaments and "friendlies" (practice games) during the off-season times. The degree to which a team is involved in the off-season varies, so discuss this with your coach.

* Travel

The amount of travel during the regular season is not much different from that of a recreational travel team. However, club teams often participate in preseason and post-season tournaments, and "friendlies". The number of these events in which a team participates also varies from team to team

* Tournaments

Tournaments are a great way to test players and their teams against new opposition. It can also be a great getaway for the family. Tournaments are generally scheduled around holidays or during the summer months when kids are out of school. Tournament entry fees can range from $300 to $800 per team, and can be local, instate, and occasional, out-of-state. Most are multi-day events (Fri,Sat,Sun), and that means overnight stays and the related expenses. Each team will decide on the tournament(s) in which they want to participate, early in the season. This allows parents and players to plan accordingly. A typical team will participate in one preseason, one in-season, and one post-season tournament. The number and location are decided upon after consultation and approval from the Club Coordinator.
